Love of the Land

I was excited to be a part of this year's Nantucket Land Council art show.  The pieces all had a wildlife theme; most of them were birds, so my tea set fit right in.  The main ceramic piece was actually made while I was in college but I'd never finished out the set until last fall.  I found some great abandoned bird nests on my walks and saved my eggshells from breakfast to get the "cups" and "saucers."  The mother duck's wings are made of hair from horses at my mother's house.

I named the little family after my mom..."Dell's Darlins"

A Slew of Market Days Gone By...

Hello friends... It's been a busy busy summer so far and the market has been a pretty big success as far as we're concerned.  Thanks for coming out, seeing us and loving our goods.

Carmen and I haven't really made many new things lately but we did crank out some pretty spiffy keychains.  We wanted to have more things for the fellas.

Nothing says driving in style like keys attached to one of these bad boys...

And finally... our octopi found a great home.  I couldn't believe these little guys weren't selling, they're the coolest.  After almost two months of hanging on our door and being locked away in our suitcase the octopi are set free.

We still have plenty of fun necklaces that need adopting. And if you have any special requests, let us know.

Goody Goody... New Goods

Like little Keebler Elves, Carmen and I were cranking out some goodies.  We have a whole slew of necklaces... earrings too, but I don't have images of those yet.

Tiered beaded necklaces with adjustable chains so they can be rocked long or short...
Simon actually took this orange one to Lithuania with him to give to his mother.  I've never met her so I told Simon to pick something out for her from me.  It's a pretty cool one.

Do you know whose legs these are?  This is one of my new favorites.  It's a lasso necklace that hangs to the bottom of my rib cage.  The little gun charms are perfect, right?!

With all the islanders and island visitors we have to have marine life...

or just really cool animals...

I saw a long knotted cloth necklace in a magazine awhile back and stored the idea away for later.  Well, later is now.  We did a chain/cloth combo because it's awesome and we can.

We found this scarf at the second hand shop on island and busted it out for the Fourth of July.  Because the market was at a different weird location and no one really showed up to shop, it was one of the few things we actually sold.  I thought that was kind of weird...

Cute plastic clothespin and a little shirt charm...

Come say hi to Carmen and me at the market saturday mornings or let me know if you see something you like and want me to ship it to you.  I'll take more pictures of things soon.

This little Pear went to Market

So today was the third Nantucket Farmer's Market and Carmen and I were not exactly chilling on the sunny side of the street.  It was pretty toasty out there.  But the nice weather brought with it some pretty rockin' customers.  We had one of our best markets ever!  Thanks to all the people who stopped by and supported us, we love when our little creations have good homes.

I finally downloaded some of our pictures too.  About time, right?!  Our new stuff has been getting some rave reviews and we've been having a great time making it.  My mom just scored a bunch of sweet vintage jewelry for us to reincarnate so be sure to check out booth every Saturday for the new wares.
Carmen copped a squat and toiled away last Saturday.  Her cuffs are pretty sweet.
We've been making some new necklaces with scarves.  They're super lightweight ...We have new cards too.  Nantucket themes, Whaling in general and some surfers...

Summer McGill, my best buddy from high school, came to visit last weekend.  It was awesome.  We went to the brewery for the delicious Blue-Haired Ladies, you have to try it.  Grey Lady beer with a little splash of Triple 8 Blueberry Vodka.  Then to the Muse to beat the crap out of the punching machine and grab a bite and a beer.  I had to send her home with some goodies.  She chose these killer oar earrings...
this one is a little blurry but you get the idea.

Hard at work in our little studio...  Carmen sporting one of her killer cuffs...  This necklaces was money...  I was wearing it at the market last week and a woman bought it from us while we were packing up.  It was so cool, I was a little sad to see it go. We also created some beer bottle earrings... Beth had the great idea to put Cisco Brewery labels on them.  I have to check with Wendy Hudson to see if that's okay first.  The labels on them now are sorta legible.  One is Colt 45. They crack me up.
This background wasn't the best for these little guys, but it's the only picture I got of them.  A woman snatched 'em up right away.

We're going to be in the studio as much as possible this week... The nice weather makes the allure of the beach a little too much sometimes.  We'll keep the trendy works coming, don't you worry.

So Much Has Happened

So it's been awhile. Sorry about that. Jess did make it back to Nantucket for the summer, but has decided not to get back into The Pear. Don't despair just yet, however, Carmen stepped up and has taken over as my partner in crime.

We had our first farmer's market last Saturday. I really didn't feel prepared, but once we got there things went pretty smoothly. There was a decent turn out and we got a lot of positive feedback. We sold a lot more cards than we have in the past, which is one of the things I'm focusing on for the season. I like the necklaces and earrings, but I LOVE the cards.

My mom mailed us a bunch of tarot cards that I've been making some post and greeting cards out of. They're pretty cool, if i do say so myself. I have some pictures that I still need to download and post so you all can bask in the awesomeness.

Until then, just know that we're truckin' along, strong as ever. Hope to see at the Market on Saturday or read your comments.

what's new...

So here's some new goodies I've been making. The jewelry isn't as crazy but it's super cool. I need to get better at taking pics of myself but Jess is coming back soon so someone can be the model and the other person can be the photographer. These pics work for now.

All the necklaces are modified necklaces from auctions, yard sales and such. The chains I put on them are all new.

This one's pretty sweet....

and you can wear them straight or in a cute little knot.
This guy was a little bracelet and now he's a killer necklace....

This one looks great over something dark....

and lastly, chic meets hippie. I kinda love them all.
On to my favorite thing to make .... POSTCARDS! I've been trying to do more things that are Nantucket and at least nautical. I found a few surfer magazines with a lot of great images...

Then I scored a book about Yankee Whaling with some old line drawings and paintings...

This one floors me... Clubbing seals???!!!

These are from a book of sheet music I watercolored and cut up.
And finally these little gems... My buddy Sara Springer mailed me a few fun magazines that have puzzles and such. They make perfect postcards...

Today the farmer's market entry is due which is why I had to get these images. The market doesn't start until mid June so I have time to really stock up. My friend, Julie Broadbent saved a bunch of magazines the Nantucket Historical Society was throwing out. Lots of great pics in there.
